Full-service only

New Jersey is the only US state where you may not pump your own gas — an attendant does it for you, by law, under the Retail Gasoline Dispensing Safety Act (N.J.S.A. 34:3A-4 et seq., originally 1949). Stay in the car, tell the attendant the grade and dollar amount or "fill it up," and hand over a card or cash. There's no self-serve discount and tipping isn't expected.
