Privacy Policy
RoadRange is a pre-launch product. The only personal data we collect today is the email address you choose to give us so we can tell you when we launch. This policy explains what we do with it and the rights you have — under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA/CPRA), and the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act.
Who is responsible for your data
RoadRange is the data controller for the information described here. For any privacy question or to exercise any of the rights below, contact us at [email protected]. We respond to requests without undue delay and within the timeframes the applicable law requires (generally one month under the GDPR; 45 days under the CCPA/CPRA).
What we collect, and why
When you join the waitlist we store only what we need to honour your request and to prove you agreed to it:
- Your email address — so we can send you the launch announcement and occasional product news.
- A record of your consent — the exact wording you agreed to and its version, and the date and time you agreed. We keep this because the law requires us to be able to demonstrate that consent was given.
- Limited technical metadata — the IP address and browser user-agent from your sign-up request. We keep this solely as evidence of consent; we do not use it to track or profile you.
We do not collect names, payment details, or any special-category data, and we do not run advertising or third-party tracking cookies on this site.
Our legal basis
For people in the EU/UK, our legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You give it by ticking the un-checked box on the sign-up form; you can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew it.
How we use it — and what we never do
We use your email only to contact you about RoadRange's launch and related product updates. We do not sell or share your personal information (as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA), and we do not rent it, trade it, or use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We use a small number of service providers (for example, our hosting and email-delivery providers) who process the data only on our instructions.
How long we keep it
We keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we decide not to launch the waitlist — whichever comes first. When you unsubscribe we remove you from the mailing list; we may retain a minimal suppression record (so we don't email you again) and the consent record for as long as needed to meet our legal obligations, then delete it.
Your rights in the EU and UK (GDPR)
If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
- have your data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to our processing;
- receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format (portability);
- withdraw your consent at any time; and
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. There is no charge, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
Your rights in California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect about you and how we use it;
- request that we delete it;
- request that we correct inaccurate information;
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information — although we do neither; and
- not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
Submit a request by emailing [email protected]. We will verify it against the email address on file before acting. You may use an authorised agent where the law permits.
Marketing emails (CAN-SPAM)
Every email we send will clearly identify who it is from, will not use deceptive subject lines, will include a valid postal address, and will contain a one-click unsubscribe link. We honour opt-out requests promptly. You can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing [email protected].
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and, where the change is material, the consent version shown on the sign-up form. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
